    Achieve the Style:

    This picture captures a relaxed Christmas moment with my daughter and me. We opted for comfy, casual outfits since we were simply enjoying time at home. I’m wearing a cozy grey knit sweater paired with off-white jeans. My daughter is in an adorable floral dress. My husband and son (not pictured here) are wearing jeans and neutral shirts, complementing our overall neutral color scheme!

    Check out these stunning family Christmas photos! I’ve highlighted my favorite outfit choices and why they work so well. Get inspired for your own holiday photoshoots!

    How should I dress for a family Christmas photo?

    For memorable family Christmas photos, choose a sophisticated, classic, and truly festive style. Here are my best suggestions for family Christmas picture outfits:

  • Midi dress or skirt (think velvet, knit, satin, lace, or tulle)
  • Cable knit sweater
  • Flowy blouse
  • Leather pants or skirt
  • Jeans (if you’re dressing casually)
  • Chelsea boots
  • Knee-high boots
  • Classic pumps or strappy heels
  • From my perspective in 2025, location significantly impacts family photo outfit choices. For outdoor shoots, opt for long sleeves and comfortable layers for warmth. Indoor settings allow for lighter, more relaxed clothing options.

    Cadence Feeley, a seasoned photographer and Style Your Occasion’s expert, suggests prioritizing the mother’s attire first. Then, build the color scheme for everyone else around her outfit! This provides a simple foundation for creating your family photo palette in 2025.

    gold velvet, green & blue.

    @laurenmuckler

    Achieve the Style:

    I’m absolutely enamored with the luxurious, golden velvet the mother is wearing! It brings a wonderfully warm and vibrant touch to these stunning family Christmas portraits. I highly recommend incorporating a similar shade to inject a burst of bright color into your family’s Christmas photos, all while maintaining that timeless holiday charm.

    ivory, holiday red & a pink tutu

    @0201family

    Achieve the Style:

    For timeless family Christmas photos, red and white are always a winning choice. I’m drawn to the diverse shades of bright red featured in the girl’s sweaters, the mother’s elegant satin skirt, and the charming little red tights. The color provides a striking visual impact, yet it remains balanced within the photo, thanks to the blend of gentle white, ivory, and beige tones.

    Infuse joy into your photos! Consider a delicate pink accent, just like this family did with their daughter’s adorable tutu. It’s a truly precious detail!

    Achieve the Style:

    These crisp, white ensembles project an undeniably elegant and timeless vibe. The snowy white Christmas trees in the backdrop amplify this effect. The diverse textures and materials elevate these monochromatic looks, adding visual interest.

    beige & shades of green.

    Achieve the Style:

    Selecting a color scheme for your 2025 Christmas family photos? I suggest focusing on one festive color alongside two or three complementary neutral tones. Green remains a timeless Christmas choice. The beautiful green hues shown above work perfectly with soft neutrals such as ivory and beige.

    warm browns.

    Achieve the Style:

    For Christmas cards with a cozy and welcoming vibe, consider brown as your primary color for holiday photos. The image showcases various brown shades beautifully. Accents of white and denim blue provide a perfect balance to these warm tones.

    gingham & plaid.

    @efergie13

    Achieve the Style:

    Classic Christmas patterns often bring plaid and gingham to mind. These prints are stunning in brown, beige, and taupe shades. I especially love how they infuse a festive spirit into neutral outfits.

    ivory & taupe with a touch of leather.

    @simplysuzanna

    Achieve the Style:

    This gentle, neutral color palette complements the Christmas tree beautifully in this indoor family photo session. I’m drawn to the soft knit ivory sweaters (Consider Quince for comparable styles; find options here and here), especially when paired with the subtle taupe tones.

    Combining diverse textures, such as leather, tulle, and knits, adds visual interest. This technique elevates neutral outfits, preventing them from appearing flat in photos. Consider this for your 2025 style!

    statement pieces.

    @gmpphotography_wedding

    Achieve the Style:

    A timeless statement piece elevates any outfit, and a tulle skirt is ideal! A white tulle skirt paired with a cable knit sweater creates an instant holiday vibe. The son’s vibrant sweater adds a stunning splash of color, making the look even more captivating.

    I’m also loving the chunky Mary Jane shoe trend for a cool contrast. Alternatively, classic black or nude pumps offer a more understated footwear choice.

    classic christmas patterns.

    Knitwear exudes a comforting, warm feeling. These items are essential for winter outdoor photoshoots in 2025! They create a cohesive style for outfits. The blend of neutral tones adds visual interest and dimension.

    pops of plaid.

    Achieve the Style:

    For a relaxed Christmas vibe, consider easy plaid items. A flannel shirt or shacket works wonders! I love the brown, black, and white mix in these outfits. It creates a classic, enduring look. Feel free to pick a brighter, more vibrant plaid pattern too.

    matching pajamas.

    @misslizheart

    Achieve the Style:

    Matching Christmas pajamas remain a top pick for family outfit ideas! If you prefer a less uniform look, select pajamas with similar colors and styles. This family photo showcases that perfectly.

    black on black.

    Achieve the Style:

    Black remains a classic and elegant choice. Feel free to incorporate this dark hue into your family’s Christmas photo attire, whether partially or entirely. The verdant Christmas tree and shimmering gold decorations provide a beautiful contrast to the darker tones. Imagine how stunning black Christmas outfits would appear against a backdrop of pristine white snow!

    earthy tones.

    What To Wear For Spring Family Pictures: 10 Ideas You’ll Love!

    Searching for the perfect spring family pictures outfits for a photoshoot in 2025? You’ll love this list of spring outfit ideas for the whole family, featuring everything from classic florals to playful prints to timeless spring hues!

    Perfect Spring Family Photo Outfit Combos

    Spring is almost upon us, and this vibrant season – with warmer temperatures, gorgeous landscapes, and plenty of natural light – is perfect for family photoshoots! If you’re planning to get the whole family dressed up for spring photos but need some inspiration, I’ve got you covered.

    Below are my favorite ideas for spring family pictures outfits. Whether you’re planning for a photo shoot in a blooming garden or planning to capture memories in wide open fields, the thoughtfully curated and coordinated outfit ideas below will ensure that everyone looks their best!

    Cool Casual Blues

    an image board of spring family photo outfits featuring classic neutrals and pops of blue

    get the look:

    It’s never a bad idea to wear pastels in spring, and I love to mix and match soft and dark hues for a playful contrast that’s still versatile and elevated. The combo of baby blue and navy works well with neutral beige and ivory, giving the outfits a brightened spring appeal and making it easy to add a pop of blue to each outfit.

    Don’t forget the striped details and ruffled pieces to add interest to the outfits while maintaining a timeless aesthetic. I also suggest adding some casual pieces – cardigans, denim jackets, and sneakers – for a soft, relaxed vibe perfect for an outdoor spring photoshoot!

    Cocoa & Cheetah Print

    an image board of spring family photo outfits featuring neutrals and animal prints

    get the look:

    Go for a warm, playful aesthetic with cocoa tones and animal print accents! Dress the girls in cheetah print dresses, skirts, or tops, and use matching browns in the boys’ outfits to tie it all together.

    For this look, I recommend mixing warm browns and cool blues with classic white and black, ensuring that each piece works together and creates a unified finish. Plus, sticking with all neutrals creates a simple and stylish base, allowing the animal print to stand out as a fun detail.

    Feminine Florals & Dark Denim

    an image board of spring family photo outfits featuring pinks, florals, ivory, and blue tones

    get the look:

    If you ask me, these outfits couldn’t be a better choice for spring! Pink, florals, and bows are perfect for this season, while denim jackets and jeans are classic spring pieces. And I love how the combination of these effortlessly balances masculine and feminine appeal.

    While denim typically works for casual looks, the classic dresses, button-up shirts, and elevated details give these outfits a polished finish. Complete the looks with block heels, Mary Janes, and sleek, neutral sneakers for outfits that will work both indoors and out!

    Spring Elegance

    an image board of spring family photo outfits featuring blue, ivory, and beige tones with floral and ruffle details

    get the look:

    Go for an elegant seasonal look with touches of moody appeal. Navy tones add a rich, dramatic flair that works with the refined and spring-inspired design of the dresses.

    I suggest choosing dresses that complement each other in subtle ways rather than matching pieces. At first look, these dresses seem so different, but the puffed sleeves and tiered skirts give each piece a similar silhouette and cohesive finish.

    The outfits for Dad and the son seamlessly balance the others with pops of navy. If you have more than one boy in your family, consider dressing one in dark blue jeans with a white button-up to mix things up while sticking to the same palette.

    Colors of the Season

    an image board of spring family photo outfits featuring ivory, pink, and sage tones

    get the look:

    Take inspiration from the season itself and choose pieces in classic spring colors! Shades of soft green with pops of white and pink quickly evoke thoughts of blooming flowers and trees, making this color scheme my top choice for a spring-inspired aesthetic.

    I love adding interest through textures and patterns for a soft, whimsical palette like this. Combine silk or satin, cashmere, and linen for a luxe look with contrast and dimension. For patterns, go for the classics! Stripes, gingham, plaid, and florals (of course) are all fantastic choices for spring family pictures outfits.

    Parisian Spring

    an image board of spring family photo outfits featuring casual denim and elevated ivory and beige pieces

    get the look:

    If you’re going for a casual chic vibe – opt for a Parisian-inspired springtime outfit. A feminine blouse with jeans and slingback heels is effortless yet elevated, while the striped tops are a staple in French fashion.

    For a touch of spring color, opt for a simple but cute butter yellow dress for your daughter, infusing classic seasonal color into the aesthetic while adding a trendy finish.

    Coastal Vibes

    an image board of spring family photo outfits featuring light pink, blue, beige, and ivory tones with floral accents

    get the look:

     A floral romper definitely gives off tropical vibes, setting the tone for a coastal-inspired look here.

    Sandy beige trousers and breezy button-ups also add to the beach-ready aesthetic, while the colorful cardigan, denim mini, and floral flats for the daughter add another touch of spring.

    I love this for an outdoor spring photoshoot. The nature-inspired pieces are perfect for anything from a bloom-filled backdrop to a seaside setting!

    Western Flair

    an image board of spring family photo outfits featuring classic neutrals with blue accents, florals, and western flair

    get the look:

    Add bold Western flair to your spring family pictures outfits with boots and brown suede jackets! I love black with the camel tones – they give these outfits a striking and edgy appeal.

    Denim and button-ups are a must for a cowboy-inspired look, and they’re a classic choice for family photos, too. And for the girls – nothing looks cuter with cowgirl boots than a dress!

    Soft & Airy Neutrals

    an image board of spring family photo outfits featuring beige and ivory pieces

    get the look:

    Create a light, airy springtime aesthetic with ivory and soft nude tones. I love how versatile and effortless this color scheme is, and these outfits have that timeless feel you want in family photos!

    Stick with simple designs, classic silhouettes, and subtle patterns for this bright, minimalistic look.

    Shades of Spring Green

    an image board of spring family photo outfits featuring different shades of green

    get the look:

    An earthy palette is ideal for spring, and green, in particular, is one of my favorites for something earthy and elegant. I love the combo of a rich green and muted olive tone. This pairing is perfect for making green the primary color without overwhelming the outfits.

    Add pops of white and pink to brighten the ensembles and make them spring-ready!

    Spring family pictures outfits are so fun to put together. Whether you love simple looks or want something vibrant and playful, the outfit ideas on this list can help you create the perfect aesthetic for your spring family portraits!
